Clement Owusu

Clement Owusu is the Group Chief Commercial Officer with WAICA Reinsurance Corporation PLC. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK and written various articles on insurance for the Ghana Market as well as the CII Journal. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, he worked as an underwriter with Ghana Reinsurance Company Ltd from 2006. Mr. Owusu is a visiting lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute in Banjul, The Gambia.

He is currently the Board Chairman of Royal Insurance Gambia Ltd and is also on the Board of Best Assurance. Clement holds a BSc. Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana Business School and MBA Finance with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He attended the West African Insurance Institute in The Gambia where he was awarded the prize for the Highest Scholastic Achievement.

Charles Adjei-Mensah

Mr. Charles Kofi Adjei-Mensah is the manager in charge of actuarial services in the GLICO Group. Prior to this, he served as an actuarial analyst with the Risk Management and Claims Division of Best Assurance Company Limited, a general insurance company in Accra, Ghana. He held a similar position at Imperial General Assurance Company also in Accra. Mr. Adjei-Mensah holds a BSc. in Mathematics and Actuarial Science from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and a Master’s in Social Statistics also from the University of Southampton. He is a member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and has close to a decade’s worth of experience in the financial services industry

Valerie Abena Turkson

Valerie serves as Chief Executive Officer for the firm and brings a wealth of experience in Fixed Income trading, fund management and investment advisory. Prior to joining Laurus Africa, Valerie served as Vice President, Capital Markets for Obsidian Achernar Ltd where she was responsible for interbank and institutional fixed income transactions with an average monthly turnover of GHS800 million in traded volume. Valerie began her career with IC Asset Managers where she served as the fund administrator managing operations of assets under management of over GHS600 million.

Valerie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics from University of Ghana, is a CFA level 2 candidate and holds the ACI dealing certificate. She also holds a certificate in the Ghana Securities Industry Course at the Ghana Stock Exchange
